This episode is a good measure of the bullshit that goes on in large conferences, to which academicians feel like partecipating to be able to list an extra paper in the CV which amounts to nothing and which nobody reads. Selection criteria such a refereeing etc. are meaningless. Articles should be written only if someone has something to tell others, in which case the validity of the paper is obvious.
